Download the app Monal from the App Store (iOS).

As soon as you meet the requirements, you can start the preparation.

Preparation

The preparation is very easy and is separated in two steps:

Step 1:
Start Monal and choose Create new account.

Step 2:
You will need a chataddress. In this recipe you will use the German provider yax.im.
Choose I need an account and select yax.im as provider. Addtionally, select a username and a password (you need to enter the password twice).
Afterwards, you select Register at yax.im.

Done:
You registered a chataddress yourusername@yax.im. You can give this address to your friends, so they can add you to their contact lists. You can add other contact by entering their chataddress as well.

Note:
Your contact list will be empty at the beginning. That’s normal – there is no automatic search for contacts. You need to ask other people for the chataddresses.
